Meet Kevin

Kevin Grabner, Senior Engineer

  

Kevin supports clients with 25 years of experience in research, planning, design, implementation, and evaluation of electric and natural gas energy efficiency programs. Kevin has worked with utilities across the United States, specializing in commercial and industrial (C&I) markets. His experience includes over a decade leading annual evaluation planning, impact evaluation, net-to-gross research, and process evaluation for electric and gas utilities in Illinois. He applies his engineering background to research energy savings of existing technologies and assess emerging market opportunities. Kevin has led energy technology research and new program development as part of implementation initiatives targeting large industrial and commercial energy users. For over a decade, Kevin has been a technical advisory contributor for the Illinois Technical Reference Manual.

Experience Highlight

Prior to joining Skytop, Kevin managed evaluation projects in the Energy Practice for Guidehouse (formerly Navigant) for 14 years. Kevin managed teams to produce high-quality, on-time reports, helping utilities manage evaluation risk and uncertainty. 


Projects included:

· Nicor Gas Efficiency Portfolio Evaluation. Overall project manager for evaluation of business, public sector, and residential natural gas efficiency programs. Kevin managed the team conducting annual evaluation planning, impact evaluation, net-to-gross research, and process evaluation. He represented evaluation to clients, regulators, and stakeholders, and participated in technical reference manual development and market transformation efforts. 


· Peoples Gas and North Shore Gas Efficiency Portfolio Evaluation. Overall project manager for evaluation of business, public sector, and residential natural gas efficiency programs.


· ComEd Energy Efficiency Program Evaluation.  Conducted impact evaluation on C&I Prescriptive Rebate, Business Midstream Lighting, and Multifamily electric efficiency programs. Advisor on net-to-gross, impact evaluation, and gas-electric coordination.


· Ameren Illinois, AEP Ohio, PECO Energy Evaluation. Conducted impact evaluation on C&I Programs.


Experience Highlight

Prior to joining Guidehouse/Navigant, Kevin was a research director at the Energy Center of Wisconsin (now Slipstream), a non-profit research and education organization. Kevin worked on energy efficiency research, education, and implementation initiatives, developing a turn-key Commercial New Construction program and industrial pilot programs. 


Education

· B.S., Mechanical Engineering, energy focus, University of Wisconsin-Madison.

· M.S., Mechanical Engineering, University of Wisconsin-Madison. Research and thesis on passive solar thermal storage.
